Sputnik Module for PayPal/Credit Cards (Version 2.0)

Sputnik Module for PayPal

Did you know?

PayPal lets you accept credit cards from anyone—even if they don’t have a PayPal Account. Also, PayPal no longer asks people to sign up for a PayPal Account when they pay by credit card.

New in Version 2.0

The PayPal/Credit Cards Module now supports two PayPal payment methods: Website Payments Standard and Website Payments Pro. This gives you the utmost in billing flexibility.

The Sputnik Module™ for PayPal®/Credit Cards enables you to accept credit card or PayPal payments from end-users who want to obtain wireless Internet access service. The payments are automatically deposited into your PayPal account (business or premier account), minus PayPal's transaction fees (2.9% + $0.30, or less).

Your customers do not need a PayPal account, nor do they need to provide an email address if they pay by credit card. See a quick demo of how it works, and check out how easy it is to set up your PayPal Account to work with Sputnik.

The Sputnik Module for PayPal Credit Cards helps you run a profitable Wi-Fi business:

  • Set up a variety of usage plans: hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and more—you have complete flexibility over time intervals and the fees you want to charge for those plans
  • Assign those plans to Sputnik-Powered APs at for-fee locations (hot spots), end-users register and pay by credit card or PayPal account
  • Enable subscriber sign-up via web portal customized to your brand
  • Sputnik does not charge any per-user nor per-transaction fees. However, PayPal does. Please contact PayPal for more information.

Sputnik Module for Pre-Paid Cards

Sputnik Module for Pre-Paid Cards

The Sputnik Module for Pre-Paid Cards enables you to enforce time-based access limits to your wireless network based on pre-paid cards, coupons, or codes.

The Pre-Paid Module supports a variety of business uses:

  • Hotspots, such as cafes, can hand out pre-paid cards to customers who purchase their other products in order to encourage business yet prevent free-loaders from hanging out just to use the wireless network all day
  • Venues can set the number of minutes of access allowed for each card, so that after the pre-determined amount of time, a user associated with a pre-paid code is automatically logged out
  • Hotspot providers can promote their location by distributing or advertising pre-paid codes with free or low-cost trial use periods, then later follow up with subscription billing or fee-based cards with longer access times
  • Hotels can give guests codes that enable them to log onto the wireless network; when the guest checks out, they can be billed based on the amount of time they used the wireless network
  • Businesses can distribute wireless access codes to visitors (e.g., printed on the visitor badges) that allow them wireless access to the Internet, but restrict them from the company’s private, internal network

Sputnik Module for RADIUS

Sputnik Module for RADIUS

MICROSOFT ACTIVE DIRECTORY

The Sputnik Module for Radius supports seamless integration with Microsoft Active Directory® via Microsoft’s Internet Authentication Service (IAS). Learn more.

In addition, the Module now allows administrators to test network authentication without needing to deploy wireless access points.

The Sputnik Module for RADIUS works with SputnikNet to enable you to authenticate and collect data for users on a pre-existing RADIUS server.

The RADIUS Module supports a variety of business uses:

  • RADIUS, a trusted standard for remote user authentication, integrates easily with a variety of billing systems. Detailed accounting information collected by SputnikNet is passed to the RADIUS server, allowing you to use your choice of billing systems
  • With user accounts centralized and isolated on the RADIUS server or servers, there is no need to add or manage user information on multiple servers or access points
  • WIth support for Microsoft IAS, the Sputnik RADIUS Module enables an administrator to authenticate local and remote wireless users against an already established Windows Active Directory, forgoing the need to populate multiple servers with user credentials
  • Using RADIUS-based captive portal authentication, virtually all models of PCs, laptops, PDAs, and tablets can safely and securely connect to a Sputnik wireless network without the need for long WEP or WPA keys
  • Wireless providers can easily form strategic partnerships with other RADIUS-enabled providers, enabling end users to roam across networks
