Using Sputnik Instant Setup to Configure Access Points

Starting with version 3.3.0.6, Sputnik Agent™ firmware works with the Sputnik Instant Setup™ online service to configure access points (APs).

Here's how it works:

When a new Sputnik-Powered™ AP first connects to the Internet, it automatically registers with Sputnik Instant Setup.

Sputnik Instant Setup presents a web page (above) where you:

  • Enter the name of the Sputnik Control Center™ server or SputnikNet Account™ that will manage your AP
  • Click “Assign”

The AP is redirected to the appropriate site, is automatically registered, provisioned, and is then ready for remote management.

Existing customers can upgrade their APs to the new firmware version from Sputnik Control Center or SputnikNet as follows:

  • Log into your Sputnik Control Center or Sputnik administrative interface
  • Click on “Routers” in the left sidebar
  • Select the name of the AP you want to update from the “Configure Router” column
  • Click on “Reflash”

Sputnik-powered firmware can also be downloaded directly from our web site and reflashed locally through the AP's web-based user interface. Sputnik Agent firmware is free, runs on selected third-party access points, and is available for download here.
